This is a beautiful ride to the Nelchina Glacier. We begin at the Eureka Lodge and ride about 20 miles. You will experience trail riding, riding on a river, and "playing" in the swamps if you so choose. At the glacier you will get to play in the snow, enjoy the scenery, and take some gorgeous pictures. As always you have the chance to see some wildlife (usually Moose, Bald Eagles, and Ptarmigan). After a snack at the glacier we will head back to the Eureka or Sheep Mountain Lodge for some delicious food before heading back toward Palmer. (Lunch is included with this trip)
Check In: Clients will be met at our tour office by our guide staff upon arrival. Clients will be outfitted with snow boots, full snowmobile suit, gloves and a helmet. Once clients have signed a standard liability release form and fully suited up, we will caravan from our tour office to the snowmobile tour trailhead. If you would rather you can ride with the guide up to the trailhead, group maximum of 4 people.
Orientation: At the snowmobile trailhead, we will provide a safety briefing and orientation to snowmobiling. Topics covered will be proper operation of the snowmobile, general safety information, what to expect while on the tour route, procedures for possible wildlife encounters, and information on proper snowmobile riding techniques.
Inclusions: Snowmobile tour pricing includes snow boots, snowsuit, helmet, gloves, caravan to trailhead from our office, orientation to snowmobile operation and safety information, guided snowmobiling, fuel & oil, friendly patient guide services throughout the entire trip. Guide gratuities are not included in tour price. (Note: clients are financially responsible for physical damage they may cause to the snowmobile due to careless or negligent operation).
Reservations: Due to limited capacity, advance reservations are required. A credit card is required to confirm and hold your reservation at time of booking. Payment is due upon check-in at our office prior to tour departure and may be handled with cash, Visa, or MasterCard. 50% deposit is required for all multi day excursions. A 100% cancellation fee will be charged if reservation is cancelled within 30 days of departure.
Transportation: If you need transportation to/from our office from your hotel we can assist you in finding a shuttle. We use Shuttle Services of Alaska for our clients.
Physical Limitations: It is not necessary that clients have previous snowmobiling experience prior to participating in one of our tours. Riding a snowmobile, as a general rule is more challenging than driving a car because it requires coordinated physical input such as leaning and moving on the seat to assist the snowmobile in turning. Drivers need to be prepared to heed the advice of their guide and use their body to be actively involved with the steering and driving of the snowmobile for proper operation. Please note that the maximum amount of weight a double-rider snowmobile can accommodate is a total of 300 pounds for both participants. If the clients combined weight is over 300 pounds, we recommend they ride single. Due to our insurance and liability restrictions drivers must be at least 16 years old.
We look forward to working with you. Please call our office at 907-745-2505 or email for additional information or clarification. Thank you!
